Where can I park? Free parking is available in the parking lot next to Good Earth Outfitters LLC.
How long do the tours last? The tour time is listed under each tour. However, this time may very depending on the lake conditions and photo opportunities.
Do I need to tip the Captain? Tipping is discretionary but it is customary in the Service Industry. Tipping is a way of saying that you appreciated what the Captain did. Tipping is greatly appreciated.
Are there restrooms on the boat? No. There are restrooms at the Marina and on the longer tours we can stop on one of the Islands that have a restroom, if needed.
Do you accept Credit Cards? Yes; Visa, Master Card and Discover.
Do you accept Checks? Checks are not typically accepted. If you plan to pay with a check please contact us first.
Is the tour narrated? We provide key information on all tours, but give you time to enjoy the tranquility of Lake Superior.
What should I wear? The weather on Lake Superior can change quickly. You should be prepared for cooler temperatures and a chance of rain. We also prefer you to wear soft soled non-marring shoes.
What if it rains? Our tours run rain or shine. We do not run if it is "Lightning" in the area.
What if it is foggy? If the fog is thick and will affect the safety of the vessel we do not run. However, in light fog it can provide some excellent photo opportunities. Just because there is fog at the dock does not mean it is foggy out on the lake.
What if the lake is rough? The Captain makes the final decision if we go out or not. Safety is our highest priority. If the waves are within reason the spray from the waves hitting the shoreline can make for some excellent photos.
What happens if our boat tour is rerouted or canceled after it has left the dock? As we all know “The Lake is the Boss”. At times we must shorten or reroute a tour because of weather. If the duration of the tour remains about the same you will not receive any refund. If the tour is significantly shortened you will receive a prorated refund in the form of store credit.
What happens if an Island Adventure cannot land on an Island? We will make every attempt to land safely. If the dock is closed or does not have sufficient room to make a safe landing then we will do our best to provide you with an alternative to still have that awesome adventure. The alternative may require you to get into Lake Superior and swim or wade to shore or back to the boat to be picked up.
Safety Equipment? We provide all required safety equipment while on board our tour boat. Young children are sometimes more comfortable in their own life preserver. If they have one feel free to bring it.
Can I bring my animals on board? Sorry no pets are allowed on scheduled tours.
Is food or drinks served on the boat tour? No, on scheduled tours you just do not have time to eat. Passengers may bring a snack for themselves if they wish. On private tours it is common to bring a cooler with drinks and snacks. Only clear bottled water is recommended. All drinks must be able to be closed so they do not spill as we do not have any cup holders. Customer must accept full responsibility for any stains.
Are alcoholic beverages allowed on board? Not on scheduled tours. You may bring your own on private tours but we cannot serve you. The drinks you bring must not stain the seats. No red wine.
Is smoking allowed on board? No, all smoking of any type is prohibited.
Why am I charged an Online Service Fee? We use a 3rd party to do our online bookings. The booking company charges the Service Fee to cover their cost of using their software. If you book your tour in person we still enter your booking into the 3rd party software.
How long does it take to receive a credit on our credit card if we are offered a refund? We authorize the refund to our 3rd party online booking provider the day of the tour. It may take up to 10 days before the credit appears on your credit card.
Do you have any age restrictions? Yes, age restrictions are imposed by either a federal or state law.
To purchase alcohol from the Gift Shop you must be 21 years old or older.
To purchase a knife from the Gift Shop you must be 18 years old or older.
Children under the age of 13 must wear a USCG-approved PFD while underway in an open vessel.
Are purchases from the Gift Shop returnable? Yes, within 10 days of date of purchase (must show proof of purchase) we offer a store credit only on returned merchandise. Please note that all sales are final on discounted items. Items that are damaged, worn or are dirty cannot be returned.
Are your boats Handicap Accessible? Good Earth Outfitters LLC will make reasonable accommodations to individuals with disabilities. We ask that people with physical limitations please contact us prior to booking a tour to ensure you will be able to safely participate in our adventures.
Please be aware that all of our adventures/tours take place on the open waters of Lake Superior. The nature and extent of the weather and water conditions may be unpredictable and can vary throughout any given day or time. Therefore, there is a certain severity of inherent risk within our adventures/tours. Certain physical requirements are required to properly ensure your safety throughout the tour.
Our adventures/tours are not recommended for people that may be affected by certain physical limitations, including, but not limited to, pre-existing neck, back, knee, or hip injuries. Furthermore, these limitations may put you in an unsafe situation if an unpredictable event occurred. Additionally, during our tour, you must be able to transition (with assistance if required) up and down 3 narrow steps to board the vessel.
